What is Brazilian Digital?
Brazilian Digital Token (BRZ) is Transfero's Brazilian-real stablecoin. It is designed to represent BRL on blockchain networks while connecting Brazilian currency liquidity to global exchanges, payment systems and decentralized-finance protocols. Transfero describes it as a BRL-denominated stablecoin and a core liquidity layer for its financial infrastructure.
BRZ launched in 2019 and targets a 1:1 value relationship with the Brazilian real. The issuer's current product page presents it as a way to send and receive BRL-denominated value globally, settle cross-border payments, offer BRL trading pairs and participate in DeFi.
BRZ is issued on multiple networks rather than being confined to one chain. Transfero lists Ethereum, Algorand, BNB Chain, Polygon, Avalanche, Base, Stellar and Solana; bridge and wrapped representations should be checked against Transfero's current contract-address information before use.
What problem does Brazilian Digital solve?
BRZ addresses the limited international liquidity and portability of the Brazilian real. Brazilian users trading on global crypto venues historically could not easily hold short-term gains in their native currency outside Brazil, while converting through USD stablecoins introduced BRL/USD exchange-rate exposure. The whitepaper frames BRZ as a tokenized BRL instrument that can provide a more direct, borderless BRL-like position.
For businesses, the intended problem is slow or costly movement between Brazilian banking rails and digital-asset markets. BRZ is positioned for cross-border settlement, treasury operations, remittances, on/off-ramps, payments and BRL trading liquidity. It does not remove issuer, reserve, redemption, smart-contract, bridge, regulatory or market-liquidity risks; a 1:1 target depends on the reserves and redemption channels being available.
How does Brazilian Digital work?
BRZ uses fiat collateral and controlled token supply. Transfero says each BRZ is backed 1:1 by BRL and that minting and burning are controlled according to demand. The whitepaper describes reserve managers holding liquid BRL-denominated assets at least equal to outstanding tokens, with the administrator issuing tokens after BRL clears and burning tokens when BRL is withdrawn.
In the documented mint flow, a purchaser goes through a teller or reserve manager and completes KYC. Funds are sent to the teller/reserve manager; after receipt, the reserve manager orders the administrator to mint the corresponding BRZ amount to the purchaser's wallet. In the burn flow, BRZ is sent to a teller, forwarded to the administrator for burning, and the reserve manager transfers the equivalent fiat amount to the teller.
Secondary-market prices are intended to converge toward BRL parity through arbitrage between exchange prices and primary-market purchase/redemption prices. BRZ is transferable as blockchain tokens and can be used in exchange pairs, payments, cross-border flows and DeFi liquidity or collateral markets. Transfero's page says on-chain activity is publicly verifiable and cites independent Parsiq audits; its reserve report says reserves are held with a financial institution authorized by Brazil's Central Bank.

Frequently asked questions
What is BRZ?
BRZ is Transfero's stablecoin intended to track the Brazilian real (BRL) at a 1:1 ratio while making BRL-denominated value transferable on blockchain networks.
Who issues or administers BRZ?
Transfero operates the BRZ product. The whitepaper identifies Transfero Asset Management LTD, incorporated in the Bahamas, as the mint administrator and describes separate reserve managers.
How is BRZ kept near R$1?
The stated design backs outstanding tokens with BRL reserves, mints when qualifying BRL funds are received, burns when tokens are redeemed, and relies on primary/secondary-market arbitrage. Actual market prices can deviate because of fees, liquidity, access and counterparty risk.
Which networks support BRZ?
Transfero currently lists Ethereum, Algorand, BNB Chain, Polygon, Avalanche, Base, Stellar and Solana. Always verify the network and contract address on Transfero's current page before depositing or bridging.
Can anyone mint or redeem BRZ directly?
The whitepaper describes minting and redemption through reserve managers or qualified tellers with KYC/AML procedures, not unrestricted permissionless minting. Availability and eligibility depend on Transfero's current channels and applicable jurisdiction.
Is BRZ audited or reserve-transparent?
Transfero's page says independent Parsiq audits are conducted and links a reserve report. The linked report states the reserve is held at a financial institution authorized by Brazil's Central Bank; users should consult the latest report rather than rely on the older linked snapshot.
Where can I verify the Ethereum BRZ contract?
The Etherscan page for the recorded Ethereum contract is https://etherscan.io/token/0x01d33fd36ec67c6ada32cf36b31e88ee190b1839. Contract addresses differ by network, so do not use this address on another chain.
