The dollar in your Phantom wallet still has an issuer's control panel

CASH makes a deliberate split: the user controls the Solana wallet, while Bridge Building Inc. controls the regulated path between the token and dollars. Understanding CASH means following both halves—and the Token-2022 authorities that sit between them.

Open Issuance gave Phantom a branded dollar without making Phantom the issuer

On 2025-09-30, Phantom introduced Phantom Cash and described CASH as a fully backed, dollar-pegged stablecoin on Solana. The announcement was a product preview with limited early access; it did not turn every advertised card and banking feature into a universally available token right.

Stripe and Bridge launched Open Issuance the same day. Their arrangement lets a company shape the user experience and participate in reserve economics while Bridge handles issuance, reserves, liquidity and compliance. CASH was the platform's first named stablecoin: Phantom designed the experience, but Bridge Building Inc. became the issuer.

One balance crosses three systems—and each system has different rules

The on-chain layer is concrete. Phantom documents mint CASHx9KJUStyftLFWGvEVf59SGeG9sh5FfcnZMVPCASH as a six-decimal Solana token, and the network identifies it as Token-2022. Phantom's Cash account is a separate self-custody wallet, so Phantom says it cannot reverse a transfer or retrieve a lost recovery credential.

The app layer adds username transfers and Solana swaps. The financial-service layer adds bank funding, ACH withdrawals and a prepaid Visa card through Stripe, Bridge, Lead Bank and other partners. Regional access and identity checks attach to those off-chain rails. Owning the SPL token does not, by itself, guarantee access to every button shown in Phantom.

The reserve backs redemption; it does not become the holder's property

Bridge's current stablecoin terms say each Bridge Stablecoin can be redeemed for one US dollar by an eligible Bridge user, subject to the User Terms. A compliant redemption order is generally processed within two business days. This is a contractual route through Bridge, not a promise that every exchange will always quote CASH at exactly $1.

BBI says its aggregate Bridge Stablecoin reserve is checked each business day and may contain short Treasury bills, overnight reverse repos fully collateralized by US Treasuries, US government money-market funds, deposits and certain tokenized equivalents. The same terms draw a hard ownership boundary: CASH conveys no property interest in those assets, and BBI retains net reserve returns. CoinYQ did not find a dated independent attestation isolating CASH from the wider Bridge reserve program.

Token-2022 turns compliance language into visible technical authority

At Solana slot 444249851 on 2026-09-04, the mint reported 127,232,136.655669 CASH. It also exposed an active mint authority, an active freeze authority and a permanent delegate, while a separate address controlled metadata and the dormant transfer-hook setting. Those observations show a managed stablecoin rather than a fixed-supply bearer asset.

Bridge's terms explain the intended compliance outcome: Bridge may blacklist wallets, freeze transfers, burn tokens and decide whether to remint elsewhere under law or internal policy.

The public sources reviewed do not name who controls each on-chain authority address. Self-custody therefore protects the user's signing keys, but it does not neutralize issuer-level token powers.

What is CASH?

CASH is a US-dollar stablecoin issued by Bridge Building Inc. and designed with Phantom for Solana. The exact asset on this page is the six-decimal Token-2022 mint CASHx9KJUStyftLFWGvEVf59SGeG9sh5FfcnZMVPCASH, which separates it from unrelated tokens sharing the word cash.

Inside Phantom, the balance sits in a separate self-custody Solana wallet. The app adds usernames, swaps, bank funding, withdrawals and a prepaid debit card, but those services have different partners, eligibility rules and legal terms from the token itself.

What problem does CASH solve?

Phantom wanted a dollar unit that could remain on-chain while moving through its wallet, payments and money-transfer interface. Bridge's Open Issuance platform supplied issuance, reserve management, compliance and conversion infrastructure instead of Phantom building a new issuer stack.

That convenience creates the key verification problem: control of a wallet key is not control of the dollar promise. Redemption depends on Bridge eligibility and terms, while off-chain features depend on KYC, location and third-party providers.

How does CASH work?

CASH uses Solana's Token-2022 program with six decimals. A live query on 2026-09-04 found a total mint supply of 127,232,136.655669 CASH and active mint and freeze authorities, plus a permanent delegate and mint-close authority. The supply is therefore issuance-linked, not capped.

Bridge's terms say its reserve across Bridge Stablecoins must equal at least one dollar per outstanding token on each business day and may include short-dated US Treasuries, overnight reverse repos fully collateralized by US Treasuries, US government money-market funds, deposits and specified tokenized forms. Eligible Bridge users can request $1 redemption, generally processed within two business days after compliance review. Holders do not own the reserve assets, and Bridge may freeze, blacklist or burn tokens under its terms.

Key facts

  • Verified identity: Solana mint CASHx9KJUStyftLFWGvEVf59SGeG9sh5FfcnZMVPCASH, Token-2022, six decimals.
  • Bridge Building Inc. is the issuer; Phantom designed the wallet-facing product around CASH.
  • The $1 redemption right is subject to Bridge User Terms, eligibility, compliance checks and possible fees.
  • Bridge Stablecoin holders receive no property interest in the reserve and Bridge keeps net reserve returns under its terms.
  • At the 2026-09-04 review, mint, freeze, permanent-delegate and mint-close powers remained active on-chain.
  • Phantom Cash's bank and card features are distinct third-party services with regional and KYC restrictions.

Frequently asked questions

Which CASH token does this page cover?

It covers Phantom and Bridge's Solana Token-2022 stablecoin at mint CASHx9KJUStyftLFWGvEVf59SGeG9sh5FfcnZMVPCASH, with six decimals. The mint is the safe identifier when other assets use the same name or ticker.

Does holding CASH mean I own dollars or Treasury bills in its reserve?

No. Bridge's stablecoin terms grant an eligible holder a conditional right to redeem with Bridge for one US dollar, but expressly deny a direct or indirect property interest in reserve assets.

Can Bridge freeze or remove CASH from a wallet?

Bridge's terms reserve blacklisting, freezing and burn powers for law and compliance reasons. The live Token-2022 mint also exposes active freeze and permanent-delegate authorities; CoinYQ could not publicly attribute every authority address to a named controller.

Is a Phantom Cash account a bank account?

No. Phantom describes it as a separate self-custody Solana wallet. Bank transfers and the prepaid Visa card are partner services, require eligibility and KYC, and the stablecoin is not FDIC- or SIPC-insured.

Is CASH supply fixed?

No fixed maximum was verified. The mint authority was active on 2026-09-04 and supply changes as issuance and redemption occur; 127,232,136.655669 CASH was only the observed snapshot at Solana slot 444249851.
