The security API that tried to turn its threat feed into a network

GoPlus already had something useful before GPS: a risk API consumed by wallets and applications. The token was added to recruit data, compute and governance around that service. The critical question is how much of that economy is running on public contracts, and how much still depends on GoPlus documents, gateways and administrator keys.

A threat feed came before a token

GoPlus' early product was not a blockchain. It was an intelligence layer: query a token, address, NFT, approval or dApp and receive risk flags before a user acts. The current developer support page still offers that API free at 30 calls per minute, while higher limits require access arrangements.

That operating product matters because later token language can make the whole service look newly decentralized. GPS does not produce each risk verdict inside its ERC-20 contract. The verdict comes from GoPlus data, engines and delivery systems; the token is meant to price and coordinate contributors around them.

Ten billion units financed the transition

GPS began trading on January 16, 2025 with a 10 billion maximum. The Base contract is unusually simple: its constructor minted all 10 billion to the deployer, and verified source exposes no owner, pause, blacklist or later mint entry point.

Distribution is more complicated than code. Of supply, 60.67% is assigned to ecosystem/community categories—24.67% community/development, 10% ecosystem growth, 6% marketing/growth, 10% airdrop, 7% liquidity and 3% advisers. Team receives 20% and early backers 19.33%. The team paragraph says a 6-month cliff plus 2 years monthly vesting, then says early contributors take 7 years from the beginning. Without an explanatory schedule, both cannot be compressed into one certain unlock date.

Free API traffic and Security Gas coexist uneasily

Official tokenomics says users and businesses can pay GPS for transaction protection, intelligence, AgentGuard, DeepScan and SafeToken services. The MiCAR paper likewise describes subscriptions and per-transaction Security Gas. Those statements establish intended utility, not universal live settlement.

The same official API support says the public service is free at 30 calls per minute. GoPlus also accepts supported payment models for newer products. A page view, risk response or product revenue therefore should not be translated automatically into GPS burned, bought or distributed until fee contracts and flows are shown.

The AVS is real code, but not autonomous magic

The GoPlus-AVS repository publishes an Ethereum mainnet deployment: ServiceManager 0xa3F64D3102a035db35c42A9001BBc83e08c7a366, ProxyAdmin 0xd55bda80D67b0FC64181F746136A97C3625CF17f and related registries. Its operator model sends gateway-signed tasks through selected operators, executes SecWare and returns signed results for gateway consensus.

That is stronger evidence than a roadmap slide, yet it also reveals trust surfaces. ProxyAdmin and ServiceManager owner are listed as 0x0A33f7Ad41A2Ed3510EF5a65b6B4397c6307e410. Operators depend on gateway task selection and enabled software versions. Data and compute pages describe stake, reward and slashing, but reviewed sources do not expose a complete, measurable GPS reward economy.

Two chains expose two different token controls

On Base, the 10-billion token contract cannot be upgraded and contains no token-level freeze switch. Distribution wallets and application contracts can still be controlled elsewhere, but the supply code itself is fixed.

The BNB Chain address is different. It is an EIP-1967 proxy: on September 5, 2026 the implementation slot pointed to 0xa8b87eda0d68b6103f5df1ba1b697b24c7f0e29c, admin to 0xa8fc0deb641770ee07f31ec23e1b63f04ce448b9 and logic owner() to 0x6165a96b34d0a8fd3df31a43f88166b7ec6491ce. It reported about 179.557 million GPS. This representation can change through keys that the Base ERC-20 does not have, and its supply should not be blindly added to Base issuance as new global emission.

Governance participation is not ownership

The governance design gives stakers voting weight and asks data providers, compute operators and SecWare developers to bond GPS. Current roadmap text says staking and the data layer were delivered but describes the governance portal as planning. No reviewed source proves that every proxy upgrade, treasury transfer or Foundation decision is executed by a GPS vote.

The legal boundary is clearer. The MiCAR paper names Cayman Goplus Foundation as admission applicant and BVI TOPS LABS LTD as issuer. It describes service access, staking and governance, but not shares, debt, ownership of intellectual property or fixed-value treasury redemption. It also warns that the token may lose all value, become illiquid or fail to buy promised services, without EU investor compensation or deposit guarantee.

How the project changed

  1. 2022-01
Security Intelligence API is documented as a mature product

GoPlus dates its SDK/API product to January 2022, before GPS existed.

  2. 2024-10-29
Goplus Foundation is registered in Cayman

The later MiCAR applicant is established; TOPS LABS LTD remains the stated issuer.

  3. 2025-01-16
    GPS launches on Base

The 10-billion-cap utility token begins trading after a one-time constructor mint.

  4. 2025-Q1/Q2
GoPlus marks staking and data-layer milestones delivered

This is issuer roadmap status; complete public reward accounting remains unavailable.

What is GoPlus Security?

GoPlus began as security intelligence: APIs and tools that classify risky tokens, addresses, NFTs, approvals and dApps. GPS is the utility and coordination token added around that product family. The catalog asset is the Base ERC-20 at 0x0c1dc73159e30c4b06170f2593d3118968a0dca5 and its BNB Chain representation at 0x9a4a67721573f2c9209dfff972c52be4e3f6642e. The API, GoPlus APP, AgentGuard, SafeToken, User Security Network and GPS are connected layers, not interchangeable names.

What problem does GoPlus Security solve?

Security data has to be gathered, checked and delivered before a wallet, app or agent acts. GoPlus already exposes that intelligence through an API whose support page offers a free 30-calls-per-minute tier. Its larger thesis is to reward outside data suppliers, compute operators and security-service developers. That transition is incomplete evidence: official pages describe and sometimes mark the network stages delivered, but do not publish full reward rates, all production contracts or proof that ordinary API calls currently settle in GPS.

How does GoPlus Security work?

GPS has a 10,000,000,000 cap. Official allocation is 60.67% ecosystem/community and 39.33% team/backers. The Base contract minted 10 billion once and has no later mint, pause, blacklist or token-owner function. Contributor documents describe GPS staking, rewards, slashing and stake-weighted votes. GoPlus-AVS publishes Ethereum mainnet contracts, but its ServiceManager and registry stack are upgradeable and route work through a gateway and operators. BNB-chain GPS is separately an EIP-1967 proxy with admin, implementation and logic-owner control surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Does every GoPlus API call burn or spend GPS?

Not established. The API currently advertises a free 30-calls-per-minute tier. Tokenomics describes GPS fees and Security Gas, but no reviewed meter proves every current API request consumes GPS.

How was the 10 billion supply created?

Verified Base code minted all 10 billion in the constructor. Allocation and vesting determine distribution; the token itself exposes no later mint function.

Can anyone earn GPS as a data or compute node?

The network documents staking, verification, rewards and penalties for data and compute contributors. Public material reviewed here does not provide all production entry conditions, reward rates or payout evidence.

Do GPS votes control contract upgrades?

Not proven. Stake-weighted governance is described, but the AVS has proxy-admin ownership and BNB GPS has separate proxy administration. Governance portal work is still described as planning in the current roadmap.

Who issued GPS and what does it own?

The MiCAR paper names TOPS LABS LTD as issuer and Goplus Foundation as the person seeking admission. GPS provides utility and participation; it is not a share in either entity or title to GoPlus data, software or treasury.

Can a holder redeem GPS at a fixed value?

No treasury redemption is promised. The disclosure warns that GPS may lose all value or cease being exchangeable for services and is outside EU investor-compensation and deposit-guarantee schemes.
