MUB: how Micron’s dividend changed a token balance

MUB began trading on 11 June 2026 as a BTECH Holdings certificate backed by Micron shares. It can move on BNB Chain for longer hours than Nasdaq, but its holder has a claim against the certificate structure rather than shareholder rights at Micron. The first dividend soon showed how that difference works: cash was reinvested and token balances changed through an operator-set multiplier.

Micron did not issue MUB

Buying MUB does not put a name on Micron's shareholder register. BTECH Holdings, a special-purpose company in Abu Dhabi Global Market owned by Binance Holdings, issued the certificate over Nasdaq-listed MU shares after approval from the local financial regulator. Trading began on 11 June 2026. The prospectus expected an initial pool of about 895 certificates at a reference price of US$900.11 each.

Those certificates depended on shares held inside the programme rather than shares delivered to token holders. Binance NCCL borrowed the initial MU shares from Alpaca. If Alpaca recalls them and replacements cannot be found, the prospectus allows a temporary backing shortfall and suspended redemption. Segregated custody identifies where the shares are held; it does not remove the borrowing risk.

The trust follows value, not the shareholder seat

Alpaca holds MU in a segregated account for BTECH, and BTECH says it holds its interest on trust for MUB holders. That gives the certificate a defined asset and limited recourse to the shares or their net sale proceeds. It does not put the holder on Micron's register. The issuer disclaims the vote, and the certificate holder cannot exercise Micron shareholder choices directly.

Micron's first dividend became MUB's first public test

Micron declared US$0.15 per share with 6 July as the ex-dividend date. Instead of forwarding cash, BTECH reinvested the net dividend after withholding. Its regulated disclosure moved the multiplier from 1 to 1.000108 and increased the certificate count from 36,319.18 to 36,323.09. The small adjustment mattered because it made the wrapper's logic observable: corporate value reaches MUB only after custody, tax and operator processing.

A public-chain token still answers to a private master ledger

MUB can leave the exchange environment for BNB Chain, but Binance NCCL's CSD Master Ledger remains the definitive record of title. The CSD reconciles outside addresses and can refuse an incoming position or order it frozen when eligibility rules fail. Redemption likewise returns through Nest Trading and Alpaca; a wallet signature alone cannot demand a registered share.

The contract shares its change controls with the wider bStocks system

The MUB address is a beacon proxy. At review, it used the same beacon and implementation observed across BTECH certificates, with the beacon owned by an operator address. That arrangement allows common fixes and corporate-action processing, but it also means MUB holders do not control the code by vote. The product's final shape is determined jointly by the prospectus, the CSD record, custody operations and upgradeable software.

How the project changed

  1. 2026-04-17
BTECH Holdings is incorporated in ADGM

The special-purpose issuer was formed before offering its first certificates over US-listed securities.

  2. 2026-06-11
FSRA approves MUB and trading begins

The prospectus established ISIN AE000A4AVAY2, the trust and custody chain, BNB contract and screened redemption route.

  3. 2026-06-24
    Micron declares a US$0.15 dividend

Micron's board set 6 July as the record-related ex-dividend event that the wrapper would have to process.

  4. 2026-07-06
The multiplier changes from 1 to 1.000108

BTECH reinvested the net dividend and proportionally adjusted MUB balances instead of paying cash to wallets.

  5. 2026-08-28
    Weekly disclosure records 42,920.97 certificates

BTech Services reported 42,920.97 outstanding, with 41,239.16 of them trading within the RIE; the second column was not an underlying-share equivalent.

What is Micron Technology (bStocks Tokenized Stock)?

MUB is Micron Technology bStocks, a certificate issued by BTECH Holdings Ltd under ADGM law, not Micron Technology common stock and not a token issued by Micron. The approved prospectus gives it ISIN AE000A4AVAY2 and links each certificate to a beneficial interest in one MU share held by Alpaca in BTECH's segregated custody account. MUB exists on BNB Chain at `0xcdf2f3e0fa43c47a6662a91c9e4a7c5f69762699`; Binance NCCL's central securities depository ledger remains the primary title record. Holders receive the wrapper's economic entitlement, but do not enter Micron's shareholder register or vote the underlying shares.

What problem does Micron Technology (bStocks Tokenized Stock) solve?

A Micron share trades on Nasdaq during market hours and through a conventional brokerage chain. BTECH tried to make that exposure fractional, continuously tradable and withdrawable to a public chain. The trade-off is visible in MUB's structure: the token can move between wallets, yet recognition of title, sanctions screening, custody reconciliation and delivery of a share still depend on BTECH, BTech Services, Nest Trading, Binance NCCL and Alpaca. MUB therefore changes the trading rail more than it changes the legal chain of custody.

How does Micron Technology (bStocks Tokenized Stock) work?

Eligible ADGM subscribers and market makers request issuance through Nest Trading. BTECH issues only after corresponding MU exposure reaches its Alpaca custody account; ordinary secondary holders cannot mint by sending MU to the contract. Trading occurs through the Binance exchange venues, and eligible holders may deliver certificates out to BNB Chain. Redemption returns the token through Nest Trading, passes compliance screening, moves the corresponding MU position into the holder's sub-account within Nest Trading's Alpaca omnibus account, and burns MUB. No completion time is guaranteed, and an order may be rejected, cancelled or suspended. Cash dividends are reinvested after applicable US withholding and reflected by a multiplier rather than paid to wallets. BTech Services can execute minting, burning, freezes, pauses and multiplier updates on issuer instruction, while the shared beacon can change token logic without an MUB-holder vote.

Key facts

  • The asset is MUB, the Micron Technology bStocks certificate. Micron's Nasdaq common share is MU; MUUB is a separate certificate over a leveraged Direxion ETF.
  • The FSRA approved the MUB prospectus on 11 June 2026. MUB is an ADGM ledger-based security with ISIN AE000A4AVAY2.
  • BTECH Holdings Ltd, ADGM registration 36283, is the issuer. Micron did not issue or sponsor the certificate.
  • Alpaca holds the MU shares in BTECH's segregated custody account. BTECH says it holds its interest on trust for certificate holders on a one-for-one basis.
  • The initial 895 certificates were backed with MU borrowed by Binance NCCL from Alpaca under an open securities-borrowing arrangement. The prospectus permits up to 500,000 during its offer period, while later supply is demand-driven and matched through market purchases.
  • The BNB Chain contract is `0xcdf2f3e0fa43c47a6662a91c9e4a7c5f69762699`. Live contract metadata reports 18 decimals, while the prospectus says certificate entitlements are tokenised to eight decimal places; the public documents do not reconcile that display mismatch.
  • Micron declared a US$0.15 dividend with a 6 July 2026 ex-dividend date. BTech's disclosure changed MUB's multiplier from 1 to 1.000108 and outstanding certificates from 36,319.18 to 36,323.09.
  • As of 28 August 2026, the regulated disclosure reported 42,920.97 MUB certificates outstanding, of which 41,239.16 were trading within the RIE. These are separate, dated columns—not token-to-share conversion figures.
  • The central securities depository ledger remains the definitive title record even after delivery to BNB Chain, and external addresses are reconciled against it.
  • A verified holder may request delivery of MU into a broker sub-account, but anonymous wallet redemption is unavailable and processing may be refused or suspended.
  • A BNB Chain RPC snapshot on 2026-09-05 returned raw totalSupply of 38,850.01852689 MUB. It does not equal either the 42,920.97 total-outstanding or 41,239.16 RIE-trading columns, and the public record does not reconcile the scopes.

Frequently asked questions

Is MUB the same security as Micron stock MU?

No. MU is Micron Technology common stock on Nasdaq. MUB is BTECH's ADGM certificate over a beneficial interest in custodied MU. It carries economic exposure through the wrapper, not direct registration as a Micron shareholder.

Does one MUB always equal exactly one MU share?

The prospectus begins from one-to-one beneficial backing, but dividends and other corporate actions are reflected through a multiplier. After Micron's July 2026 dividend the disclosed multiplier became 1.000108, so a wallet balance must be interpreted with the current multiplier and the programme’s title record.

Can any wallet redeem MUB for a Micron share?

No. Redemption must be submitted through Nest Trading on the Binance platform by an eligible, verified holder. If accepted, Alpaca credits MU to a sub-account inside Nest Trading's omnibus account and MUB is burned. The prospectus promises no deadline and allows rejection, cancellation or suspension.

Who holds the Micron shares behind MUB?

Alpaca Securities acts as broker and custodian and holds MU in BTECH's segregated custody account. The prospectus describes the shares as trust assets outside BTECH's general insolvency estate, while custodian, cash, service-provider and enforcement risks remain.

Can MUB be frozen or changed after withdrawal?

Yes. External transfers remain subject to eligibility and jurisdiction rules. The CSD may refuse recognition and instruct a freeze, BTech Services operates enforcement functions, and the shared beacon owner can upgrade the implementation without a holder vote.

Does MUB pay Micron dividends in cash?

No. The issuer reinvests cash dividends after applicable US withholding into more underlying shares and adjusts the multiplier. The 6 July 2026 adjustment was the first concrete demonstration of that mechanism for MUB.
