GAL survived the migration, but its utility did not

Project Galaxy issued GAL for a quest and credential network. In 2024 Galxe moved its utility into a different token, giving 60 G for each GAL submitted. The old asset did not vanish: its Ethereum and BNB contracts still exist, with controls and risks that belong to GAL itself.

The catalog asset is legacy GAL

GAL and G are not two tickers for one contract. Official Galxe documentation identifies GAL as 0x5fAa...9875 on Ethereum and 0xe4Cc...7Aa5 on BNB Chain. G is a separate 12-billion-unit successor at 0x9C7B...0649.

A GAL holder has ordinary transfer, approval and permit capabilities. Galxe historically offered a migration route, but its official link returned HTTP 404 on September 5, 2026. Current governance, platform-payment and Gravity gas functions are assigned to G. The reviewed public materials do not establish that holding GAL or completing its conversion grants equity, dividends or fixed-value redemption.

Project Galaxy put participation onchain

Galxe's own record dates the platform launch to May 2021. The early product helped communities run campaigns and represent contributions with credentials and achievement tokens. At the May 5, 2022 token-generation event, eligible early users could claim about 3.65 million GAL—1.83% of the 200 million supply.

GAL attached governance and payment utility to what was still widely understood as a quest platform. By the third anniversary in April 2024, the company said that description had become too narrow. Quest now sat beside Identity Protocol, Passport, Score, Compass and Alva. The token would soon be asked to connect this product suite to a blockchain of its own.

One GAL became sixty G

Galxe introduced Gravity on May 30, 2024 as a two-step network project. The first step was Gravity Alpha, an Ethereum L2 built with Arbitrum Nitro. The later destination was a standalone Layer 1. After Galxe DAO proposals GP-25 and GP-30 passed, the project announced on July 4 that GAL would become Gravity, ticker G.

The published allocation proportions stayed the same: the 1:60 ratio scales 200 million GAL into 12 billion G units. Galxe described self-custody migration as submitting GAL and receiving G on the same supported chain, calling the submitted GAL burned. That announcement terminology does not establish a decrease in Ethereum GAL's totalSupply: its reviewed contract has no public burn function, and the exact retirement mechanism was not independently established here. The portal opened July 9 with a promise of at least one year. Galxe said unmigrated GAL would remain in holders' wallets while utility moved to G; this was not an unconditional, perpetual redemption promise.

Utility is broad; control is still concrete

G now spans two systems. Galxe's current terms describe DAO voting, platform-fee payment, credential curation and Galxe Earn; Gravity uses G for gas. Those described functions do not establish company shares, dividends or a fixed-price claim against Galxe in the reviewed public terms. The terms name Galxe Group Inc. in the British Virgin Islands as the service operator and reserve broad powers over platform access.

The token contract has its own control boundary. Verified Ethereum code exposes ownerMint, configurable minters and minter limits, along with pause and unpause. Holders can transfer and burn, but the supply is not immutable code. On September 5, official APIs reported 12 billion total and 11.0832 billion circulating, while the Ethereum contract reported 11.52655726 billion; bridge and chain representations must not be summed as separate economic supply. The 1:60 terms were published, but the official portal link returned HTTP 404 on September 5, 2026. No active self-custody route was verified.

Gravity's first mainnet became a migration corridor

The final architecture arrived later and differently than the May 2024 target. Galxe announced Gravity L1 live on July 21, 2026. Its public RPC reports chain ID 127001. The older Alpha L2 still reports chain ID 1625, but Galxe now calls L1 the current network and says Quest-related contracts have moved there.

Alpha remains usable only through November 1, 2026. Assets left after that date will no longer be transferable, according to the help notice. The official route sends G from Alpha to Ethereum and then to L1, with a seven-day wait on the first leg. Galxe is also closing its G Staking dashboard across Ethereum, BNB Chain and Alpha on the same date. A holder's immediate question is therefore operational: which chain holds the balance, is it staked, and is there enough time to exit Alpha?

Evidence and primary sources

What is GAL (migrated to Gravity - G)?

GAL is the legacy token of Project Galaxy, now Galxe. GAL exists on two networks: Ethereum 0x5fAa...9875 and BNB Chain 0xe4Cc...7Aa5. Governance, payments and Gravity utility moved through a 1:60 migration to a different successor token, G.

What problem does GAL (migrated to Gravity - G) solve?

Galxe first helped projects run quests, issue credentials and reward communities. As its products expanded, it wanted one token for platform governance and fees and for a chain that could settle the ecosystem's onchain activity.

How does GAL (migrated to Gravity - G) work?

Ethereum GAL is an ERC-20 with permit and an owner-only mint function. Its live supply is 200 million, but code does not enforce that number as a cap. BNB GAL is a smaller bridge representation behind an upgradeable proxy. Migration submits GAL and sends 60 separate G per GAL; G's governance, payment, gas and staking rules are not GAL holder rights.

Key facts

  • The tracked GAL contracts are 0x5fAa...9875 on Ethereum and 0xe4Cc...7Aa5 on BNB Chain.
  • Ethereum GAL held 200 million supply on September 5, 2026; its active owner can mint without a cap check.
  • BNB GAL was an upgradeable proxy representing about 361,774.336 bridged GAL, not another allocation.
  • Migration exchanges 1 GAL for 60 units of the distinct G contract 0x9C7B...0649.
  • The portal was guaranteed for at least one year, so perpetual conversion is not a published right.
  • Current Galxe governance and Gravity functions belong to G; remaining GAL is a transferable legacy asset.

Frequently asked questions

Is this page about GAL or G?

GAL. The Ethereum and BNB contracts belong to legacy GAL; G is a separate successor.

Is GAL simply G with a new ticker?

No. Migration submits GAL and issues 60 units of a different G token per GAL.

Can Ethereum GAL exceed 200 million?

Yes at the code level. Supply is still 200 million, but the active owner can mint without a cap check.

Why is BNB GAL supply smaller?

It is a bridge representation behind an upgradeable proxy, not a separate 200-million allocation.

Does GAL still govern Galxe?

Current terms assign governance and platform utility to G; Galxe said GAL utility would fully transition.

Can GAL always convert 1:60?

The 1:60 terms were published, but the official portal link returned HTTP 404 on September 5, 2026. No active self-custody route was verified.

Does GAL confer company ownership?

The reviewed public materials do not establish GAL equity, dividend, revenue-share or fixed-value redemption rights.
