What is EUR CoinVertible?

EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) is a euro-denominated electronic-money token issued by Société Générale-FORGE, a regulated Société Générale subsidiary. It is designed to represent one euro per token on public blockchains rather than to function as a governance or yield token. The issuer’s current page describes EURCV as a regulated EMT with 1:1 collateral and a direct or partner-mediated redemption process.

The project began on Ethereum in April 2023 for institutional clients. In July 2024, SG-FORGE restructured EURCV for MiCA EMT compliance and removed the original whitelist transfer restriction. The current white paper documents Ethereum and Solana; the product page separately lists XRPL and Stellar, with “Stellar coming soon,” so network rollout should not be treated as one simultaneous deployment.

What problem does EUR CoinVertible solve?

EURCV addresses an institutional settlement problem: moving euro-denominated value through public blockchain rails while retaining an issuer, collateral and compliance framework familiar to financial institutions. The original product was aimed at Societe Generale’s institutional clients; the July 2024 update was explicitly intended to broaden transferability and distribution.

It does not remove conventional financial and legal dependencies. Direct issuance and redemption require onboarding and controls, EEA par redemption is subject to KYC/AML, permitted-transferee and sanctions checks, and secondary-market liquidity depends on exchanges, brokers and market makers. The token therefore connects blockchain transferability with a centralized regulated issuer rather than replacing that issuer.

How does EUR CoinVertible work?

SG-FORGE issues EURCV at a nominal value of one euro. The white paper says there is no fixed issuance cap: the issuer can create further fungible tokens, and minting and burning can only be performed by the issuer through the EURCV smart contract. Issuance proceeds are placed into segregated account(s); the documented collateral test targets collateral value at least equal to outstanding EURCV and at least 30% of required collateral in cash.

On Ethereum, EURCV uses the ERC-20 standard and the published contract has 18 decimals. Etherscan identifies the deployed address as an ERC1967Proxy with a verified implementation, so the proxy architecture is an explicit upgrade/control consideration rather than evidence of decentralized governance. Holders can transfer tokens with their private keys, but the white paper reserves issuer authority to blacklist addresses and freeze associated EURCV where it suspects violations or illegal activity, and legal or regulatory events can trigger redemption or recovery procedures.

Key facts

  • EURCV is issued by Société Générale-FORGE as a MiCA electronic-money token, not as a project-governance token.
  • The Ethereum contract is 0x5F7827FDeb7c20b443265Fc2F40845B715385Ff2 and uses 18 decimals; Etherscan identifies it as an ERC1967Proxy.
  • The issuer says EURCV is issued at €1 nominal value, with no fixed maximum issuance amount; additional fungible tokens may be minted by the issuer.
  • Eligible EEA-resident holders have a right to request redemption at par in immediately available euros, subject to KYC/AML, permitted-transferee and sanctions controls; the token pays no interest or holding-time benefit.
  • The issuer’s product page reported 145,270,413.36 EURCV in circulation on 2026-08-24, while supply is dynamic rather than capped.
  • EURCV launched on Ethereum in April 2023; SG-FORGE’s July 2024 update removed whitelist restrictions and described free transferability.
  • The white paper documents Ethereum and Solana deployments; XRPL and Stellar should be treated according to the issuer’s separate current network listings and rollout wording.
  • Issuer controls include issuer-only mint/burn, discretionary blacklisting/freezing under stated conditions, and an upgradeable proxy architecture visible on Ethereum.

Frequently asked questions

Is EUR CoinVertible the same token as EURCV launched in 2023?

Yes. It is the same Société Générale-FORGE EURCV project. It launched on Ethereum in April 2023 and was restructured for MiCA EMT compliance in July 2024; the issuer published the same Ethereum contract address, 0x5F7827FDeb7c20b443265Fc2F40845B715385Ff2.

What rights does an EURCV holder have?

The white paper gives EEA-resident holders a claim against the issuer and a right to request redemption at par in euros, after applicable KYC/AML, permitted-transferee and sanctions controls. EURCV does not provide interest, distributions, governance votes or an ownership interest in Société Générale.

Can anyone mint EURCV or freely redeem it?

No. Mint and burn can only be performed by the issuer. Transfers are described as free at the blockchain level after the 2024 whitelist change, but direct issuance and redemption remain subject to issuer onboarding and compliance controls; U.S. and other permitted-transferee restrictions also apply.

Is EURCV supply capped or vested?

The current white paper states there is no limit to the amount the issuer may issue and that newly minted tokens are fungible with existing EURCV. This is a reserve-backed issuance model, not a capped supply with investor vesting; the issuer reported 145,270,413.36 EURCV in circulation on 2026-08-24.

Which networks support EURCV today?

The white paper documents Ethereum and Solana, including Solana deployment on April 8, 2025. SG-FORGE’s current product page also lists an XRPL token link and says Stellar is coming soon; readers should verify the specific network contract and current listing before transferring.

Can the issuer freeze or upgrade EURCV?

The white paper says the issuer may blacklist addresses and freeze associated EURCV in specified suspected-illegal-activity or legal-order situations. The Ethereum deployment is an ERC1967Proxy with a separate implementation address on Etherscan, so upgradeability and issuer administration are material centralized-control risks.
