APENFT became AINFT, but the art products stayed

The token kept the ticker NFT when APENFT adopted the AINFT name in October 2025. The new name pointed toward AI agents, yet the current AI homepage still links to the marketplace, NFT Pump and the foundation. The change added a new product direction without removing the earlier public art operation.

A collection became the starting point for a market

ApeNFT Foundation Ltd. was incorporated in Singapore on March 29, 2021, and issued NFT on May 20. Its later collection inventory named Picasso, Andy Warhol, Beeple and Pak. The project put traditional and digital art under one foundation identity; the fungible token was its governance asset, while the works remained foundation property.

In April 2022, APENFT launched a marketplace on TRON. That gave the art project a product beyond collecting: a place for NFT listings and exchanges. The marketplace remains linked from the foundation and AI sites. Its separate notice about revoking approvals to an older marketplace proxy also shows why an application’s contract history must be distinguished from the NFT token itself.

NFT gained launch tools and a voting role

The foundation added NFT Pump in September 2024. Its whitepaper describes a response to NFT liquidity and fair-launch problems, using TRC-404 and dynamic pricing. This was a further attempt to organize how new assets reach buyers; the paper’s account establishes the product’s purpose, not independent proof of its claimed market impact.

The same ticker also became the input to the foundation voting portal, where NFT deposits produce votes at a 1:1 ratio. Published proposal and passage thresholds are high, and the visible proposals are historical. This provides a concrete participation route around artwork and ecosystem decisions, without establishing a recent voting cadence. The separate MiCAR disclosure rules out a claim to underlying artworks or guaranteed services.

The new name led to a smaller AI experiment

The September 2025 whitepaper widened the proposed scope to Nova for agent launches, AgenTX for trading systems and Grid for model training. The official recap dates the APENFT-to-AINFT rebrand to October 9. Those names describe the intended expansion; the reviewed public pages do not prove that the full stack was delivered.

Today the main page presents a narrower benchmark for long-only agents in simulated BTC and ETH markets. It labels the product coming soon and private preview, with no wallet connection, exchange keys or real orders. On that same page, links still lead to the marketplace, NFT Pump and the foundation. The NFT ticker has therefore survived a change in ambition: the art products retain a public presence, while the AI direction still has to advance beyond the benchmark preview.

What is AINFT?

NFT is the TRON governance token introduced by APENFT in 2021 and retained under AINFT. The project’s history joins a foundation art collection, a marketplace, NFT Pump and a later AI-agent roadmap. The current AI page links back to the art products; its benchmark is labelled coming soon/private preview.

What problem does AINFT solve?

APENFT first addressed the gap between collecting art and giving creators and buyers blockchain trading tools. NFT Pump later targeted liquidity and launch design. AINFT’s proposed agent tools tackle a different task: evaluating or deploying AI systems. The shared brand and ticker do not demonstrate that these products are fully delivered or grant holders ownership of the collection.

How does AINFT work?

NFT can be transferred and deposited 1:1 in the foundation voting portal. The canonical TRON source also defines owner-only pause and deprecation plus three-day-delayed supply issue and a function named redeem. That redeem operation burns tokens from the executing owner’s own balance and transfers no reserve asset; it is not a public cash or artwork redemption path. The current AI benchmark is separate and uses simulated BTC and ETH markets without wallets or exchange keys.

The marketplace concerns individual NFTs; the fungible NFT ticker supplies the voting balance. NFT Pump adds a launch mechanism, while the preview benchmark evaluates simulated agents. The current homepage links these products but does not establish a mandatory NFT-token payment or staking requirement for the benchmark.

Key facts

  • Canonical catalog asset: TRON TFczxzPhnThNSqr5by8tvxsdCFRRz6cPNq. The foundation’s current address block lists mapped Ethereum 0x198d14f2ad9ce69e76ea330b374de4957c3f850a and BNB Chain 0x20ee7b720f4e4c4ffcb00c4065cdae55271aecca representations.
  • ApeNFT Foundation Ltd. was incorporated in Singapore on March 29, 2021, and NFT was issued on May 20, 2021.
  • The disclosed supply is 999,990,000,000,000 NFT with six decimals; the September 2025 paper says every allocation was unlocked by May 1, 2023.
  • Initial allocation was 30% artist partners, 19% DeFi airdrop/mining, 19% team, 2% initial exchange offering, 20% NFT purchases and 10% partnerships.
  • Foundation artwork ownership does not give NFT holders title to a painting, a pro-rata asset claim, issuer redemption or guaranteed service.
  • The governance portal requires more than 4,999,950,000,000 NFT to propose and 19,999,800,000,000 supportive votes plus a majority to pass.
  • Live TRON checks on September 5, 2026 found the token unpaused and not deprecated; the owner slot resolved to the 0x01-derived address rather than a named operator. The observed owner was T9yD14Nj9j7xAB4dbGeiX9h8unkKLxmGkn, upgradedAddress was zero and the delay was 259,200 seconds; these are the recorded September 5 snapshot, not proof of an accessible controller.
  • The current AINFT homepage labels its BTC/ETH paper-market benchmark coming soon and private preview; it does not place real orders.
  • Identity note: the foundation’s current Ethereum mapping is 0x198d14f2ad9ce69e76ea330b374de4957c3f850a, whose verified source uses a predicate minting role. Its Chinese mapping sentence and the repository still name 0xEF40B859D21e4d566a3d713e756197c021BffaAa. TPAhuJkffadYymqiKDmKviFmgVrSACXC3P is labelled a mapping Reserve Address; no reviewed term makes it artwork backing or a public redemption pool. These representations do not inherit the canonical TRON contract’s owner functions.

Frequently asked questions

Does NFT represent a share of the APENFT art collection?

No. The foundation describes the collection as its own, and the MiCAR disclosure says NFT grants no claim to underlying assets.

Can NFT holders govern AINFT?

They can use the foundation portal under published balance and vote thresholds. That is a participation mechanism, not equity, artwork ownership or a guarantee that every AINFT service is holder-controlled.

Did APENFT abandon NFTs after becoming AINFT?

The current AI homepage still links the marketplace, NFT Pump and foundation. Its own benchmark is narrower than the 2025 AI roadmap and remains labelled coming soon/private preview.

Can the canonical token contract be changed or minted?

Published TRON code contains owner-only pause and deprecation, plus three-day-delayed issue and owner-balance burn operations. The function named redeem pays no cash, artwork or reserve asset. Live owner state maps to the 0x01-derived TRON address; that does not by itself prove formal renunciation or identify a usable controller.
